DAP "digital assistant for psychology"

DAP, or "digital assistant for psychology" in English, is a device designed to provide psychological support to outpatient patients. It is a robot developed for CatSalut, the Catalan National Health System. This device addresses three major issues in primary and psychological care: monitoring medication intake, tracking the patient's condition, and facilitating therapeutic exercises at home. It has been designed as a supplementary tool and is by no means intended to be a substitute. Its primary goal is to enhance treatment while the patient is outside the clinic, rather than reducing the number of medical appointments.

The smart pill organizer is divided into different compartments, each in distinct colors. This separation helps prevent the patient from confusing the compartments when taking their medication. Furthermore, DAP's digital interface will change its color based on the container the patient needs to access.

The smart pill organizer is entirely removable and equipped with pins that, when pressed, lift to connect with DAP. Its removable design allows the patient to conveniently carry their medication with them anywhere. Even when the pill organizer is not connected to DAP, monitoring will remain active through the patient's mobile device.

Six interfaces for all situations

Interfaces have been developed for various situations, including medication intake control, home treatment selection, execution of therapeutic exercises, medical appointment scheduling, management during anxiety or panic attacks with a direct connection to emergency services, and an oral communication interface.

All-in-one interface for the doctor

A simplified interface has been designed to allow the medical professional to quickly assess the patient's status at a glance, preventing them from wasting excessive time on administrative tasks and enabling them to focus on their role as a healthcare provider. Despite information being processed using machine learning and AI, it can be reviewed before interpretation for validation.

It enables a quick overview of the patient's overall condition by observing various factors at a glance.

DAP collects any dangerous or suspicious words uttered by the patient during conversations.

DAP includes a module with cameras and twilight sensors that, among other functions, serve to detect the environmental conditions of the space where it is located. This allows for drawing conclusions about the patient's state, for example, low light during the day might indicate that the patient has not left their room.

The removable screen is protected by a polyurethane foam and rubber frame.

It has a dual-body design, with an outer layer of polyurethane foam to absorb impacts in case of a fall, and an inner layer of polypropylene to provide rigidity.

To ensure reparability, a matrix has been designed to house all the electronic components. The consolidation and placement of these components allow for them to be easily removed and repaired at any time. This not only contributes to environmental sustainability but also enhances the product's viability in a context where it is funded by a public entity, as it reduces maintenance costs and prevents unnecessary purchases.

The removable smart pill organizer features three security screws that, when activated while connected to DAP, unlock the lid containing the electronic matrix.

The electronic heart of DAP

In order to facilitate repairability, a framework has been created to accommodate all electronic components. The consolidation and arrangement of these components enable easy disassembly and repair at any point in time. This not only promotes environmental sustainability but also improves the product's feasibility, especially in a scenario where it is financed by a public organization, as it lowers maintenance expenses and minimizes unnecessary acquisitions.
